Portfolio Manager – Development Finance
Leeds| £65,000 Salary| Hybrid Working (50% Office / 50% Remote)
Reporting to the MD, Development Finance, you will play a central role in monitoring performance, identifying emerging risks early, and working closely with Lending Directors and Relationship Managers to protect and enhance portfolio quality.
This is a hands-on position requiring strong analytical capability, commercial awareness, and the confidence to engage directly with borrowers and professional advisers.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Oversight & Credit Stewardship
- Monitor loan expiries, interest tranches, construction milestones and sales performance
- Conduct site inspections to assess build progress, quality and budget adherence
- Review cashflows and variance analysis against approved models
- Support restructuring recommendations and prepare credit papers
Risk Monitoring & Reporting
- Complete monthly delay and cost overrun analysis
- Monitor unit sales performance and flag slow sales or undervalue risks
- Maintain accurate portfolio data and management systems
- Produce high-quality reporting for Committee and periodic credit reviews
Collaboration & Relationship Management
- Partner with Lending Directors, Relationship Managers and Credit teams
- Build strong relationships with borrowers, monitoring surveyors, valuers and legal advisers
- Contribute to annual credit reviews and portfolio strategy discussions
- Support enhancements in reporting systems (Keystone, Tableau)
Experience required
- 3–5 years’ experience in property lending or development finance
- Strong understanding of residential development funding structures
- Commercially aware with strong analytical and credit assessment skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication capability
- Ability to travel for site visits
- Basic construction knowledge (desirable)
- Experience with Phoebus, Keystone or Tableau (advantageous)
You will be detail-driven, proactive in identifying risk, and comfortable operating in a dynamic, project-based lending environment.
