Location: London
Salary: £55-£60K
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 50% office / 50% home
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.30pm

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Portfolio Manager to join a growing specialist bank within its Bridging Finance and Specialist Mortgages divisions.

This is a varied, relationship-led role where you will take ownership of an allocated portfolio of customer accounts, acting as the key point of contact for brokers, borrowers and internal stakeholders.

You will play an important role in managing the ongoing servicing of facilities, assessing requests for changes to existing lending arrangements and ensuring accounts are effectively monitored throughout their life cycle.

Working closely with Underwriting, Credit and Risk teams, you will help deliver commercially sound decisions while maintaining excellent customer service and strong risk management standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an allocated portfolio of customer accounts, acting as the primary contact for brokers, borrowers and internal stakeholders.

  • Handle requests for variations to existing lending facilities, including loan extensions, consents to lease and partial releases of security.

  • Assess customer requests, review supporting information and prepare credit proposals for consideration and approval.

  • Manage a pipeline of enquiries, ensuring requests are progressed efficiently and customers are kept updated throughout.

  • Monitor account performance, identify early warning indicators and escalate potential risks where appropriate.

  • Review facilities approaching maturity, proactively managing repayment plans and considering short-term extensions where appropriate.

  • Liaise with Underwriting, Credit, Risk and Compliance to ensure decisions are made in line with lending policies and procedures.

  • Produce customer documentation, including redemption statements, and maintain accurate records across internal systems.

  • Work towards developing and maintaining an appropriate decision-making mandate.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in portfolio management, loan servicing or relationship management within financial services.

  • Ideally, exposure to bridging finance, specialist mortgages, buy-to-let or property lending.

  • An understanding of credit risk, lending criteria and the management of secured lending facilities.

  • Experience reviewing customer information and preparing credit papers or proposals.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess information, identify potential risks and make recommendations.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to liaise with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • A proactive approach, with a strong sense of ownership and a commitment to delivering excellent customer outcomes.

Why Join?

You'll be joining a specialist banking environment with an established presence in the property finance market and ambitious growth plans.

The business prides itself on its specialist expertise, strong broker relationships and ability to provide flexible lending solutions to professional property investors and landlords.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your portfolio management and credit experience within a growing specialist lending operation.
